BARBADOS

Bridgetown

Mark Selman

We at the Trents congregation continue to grow. Of course there are still a few who are still feeding on milk instead of meat, but we continue to help and encourage brethren, especially the young adults (17-23). We are blessed on occasion to fellowship with brethren from the Hindsbury Road and Barbarees Hill congregations. These occasions have gone a long way toward encouraging more cooperation between our respective congregations. I request prayer for us and our work here in Barbados. We recently had one brother restored to the body of Christ. Our new members continue to attend regularly and to participate and growth is evident. Please pray for these brethren, that in spite of the challenges they encounter that they will remain faithful.

The radio program as always continues to promote the gospel of salvation and reach its audience of both Christians and non-Christians. We continue to be the voice of truth in an environment of error where weekly on television and radio so called “men of God” consign souls to a terrible fate. There is a need to do more and this is being explored, not only in terms of our evangelizing, teaching, preaching, and even the radio program, but also in terms of other avenues like letter writing which I have considered. With the radio program I challenge error when it rears its head, but I believe that the print media is another means to this very important end of winning souls or at least alerting them to the false doctrines being promoted. The enemy is active and he has many agents, yet I remain steadfast in my responsibility.

God has been good in that He has given me much support in the form of brothers Blenman and Licorish and young Christian men to develop. There are plans currently in the works for a gospel meeting involving bro. Jimmy Bracken and myself for November. The brethren have been asking about a meeting since our last one, and this may be my opportunity to be a speaker for the first time in my relatively short period as preacher. Please pray for the success of our planning and staging of this meeting.

Thanks be to God for His continued restoration of Bro. Jimmy Bracken, that he is able to continue doing what he loves, preaching. Thank you for your continued support of the work here in Barbados as well as your continued faith in and support of me as preacher at St. James as well as presenting the radio program. I pray God's continued blessings on you and your respective families and congregations.

BENIN

Cotonou

Achilles and Christian Todego

As usual the activities of the preaching of the Word of God on Radio Planet in Cotonou went well during the last two months. With the same passion and the same will, we continued this work and encouraging results are recorded.

As announced in our previous report, during the last two months we did not preach on a particular topic as we had the habit of doing. We preached on subjects of exhortation and we blended it with some doctrinal subjects:

1-An Invitation Not to Be Refused, Mathew 11: 28-30

2-The Book of Life, Luke 10:20

3-What Is the Final Authority in Religion?

4-Be Simply a Christian - Is this Possible? Acts 11:26

5-Honoring Mothers (on the occasion of the Mother’s Day holiday), Proverbs 31:10-31

6-What is Bible Faith?

7-To Confide Entirely in the Lord, Proverbs 3:5-7

8-Sessions of answers to the questions of the listeners

9-The Sources of Conjugal Conflicts

Our listeners react most favorably to the messages which they listen to by phone calls or by asking questions or by demonstrating their interests in what they listened to as well as visits to our places of worship.

A listener by the name of Alban Adikpéto who was a fetish priest, his parents having put him in the convent since his childhood, declared his faith in Christ and his firm decision to begin meeting with our brothers in the Atrokpokodji congregation.

Many marriages of the brothers and sisters, members of the church, found solutions in their marital conflicts.

A listener by the name of ZANKOU Kossi Stone with his wife who already attend our meetings are now at the point of devoting themselves to God by baptism; pray for them.

We are searching for a place of worship for four of our new converts we reported on in our last report. Their residence is far from our place of worship and because of it they do not attend all the different meetings of the church. There are other persons in their locality who are listeners to The Voice of the Truth radio broadcasts and former members of the church of Christ who live in the area, but do not come to services. They are also interested to have a place of worship to begin services again. For the time being, we have problems of financing. Pray for this plan.

The major difficulty to which we are often confronted has as name INSUFFICIENCY OF RADIO TIME. We would have liked to have an interactive broadcast directly with questions and answers from our listeners, but alas, 30 minutes are not sufficient to satisfy this wish of some of our listeners.

May the Lord bless you, you who believe in this ministry and who support it financially.

Ed Jones (Elder in Benton, Kentucky)

I was recently in Benin and listened to the radio broadcast on a Saturday morning as it is weekly. George Akpabli has now trained Christian and Achille Todego to do those broadcasts as a team and they are now done in French and a local Fon dialect. These guys are doing a tremendous job with the broadcasts and there are many phone calls coming back to the station asking questions about their teaching. We wish there were additional funds available so that we could expand our air time to answer questions on the air. These two men are two of our finest graduates from BTC and are excited about their opportunities to teach the Gospel by means of radio. It does help that we have trained preachers in the area to help follow up on questions that come in. World Radio is one of our greatest tools in reaching people in Benin. It has been very instrumental in helping our graduates to establish 60 churches in Benin.

BOLIVIA

La Paz

Rufino López/ Juan López/Luis Tapia

Starting June 1, it was necessary to change the radio program to another station. The radio administration of Radio Cruz del Sur asked to increase the cost of the program because they considered that it was a very low cost for three hours a week. They didn’t understand any argument. The administration is new in the station and they are making adjustments in everything. For this reason we looked for other options and thanks to God we found another station called Batallón Colorados. It is on 1440 AM Monday through Friday from noon to 2:00 p.m. for ten hours a week. We have greater outreach. There is a telephone in the studio where we can receive calls during the program and attend to it personally since we operate the program along with the help of brother Luis Tapia who is a preacher in the church. All this is for the same price that we paid the other station.

Up until today we have five contacts that we have given Bible courses; three of them attended the church. Every day of the program we receive at least two calls. The outreach of the radio is to all the provinces of La Paz. There has been a significant increase in the audience. We give thanks to God for giving these things. We understand that this is work of our God. I also want to thank you for the confidence and support that you give us.

In July we had 12 callers with questions. Bill Richardson arrived. He preached conferences in the Alto congregation. He was invited to the radio program and presented a topic.

We are fine here and needing some rain. It has been 45 days today since the last drops and the humidity in the air is very low (24%). Predictions are for rain only in the last part of September.

We have had a great first semester of the year as far as our theology courses are concerned. We advertize for them on a local radio station and had over 300 students enrolled in the five different classes we offered. Radio is a great way to announce these classes as Brazilians listen to the radio all day long, going to and coming back from work. As the classes progress (15 weeks) students will eventually drop out. We ended with over 150 graduating and had 12 baptisms from these classes alone.

We started our classes for the second semester and used radio ads again. This time we are offering only three classes because we need to find time to assist and nurture these new babies in Christ. We have already 214 students attending classes (we are currently in our fourth week).

It still amazes me that after nine years of teaching these classes there are still so many that want to study. The best way to bring them to our building is to advertize on the radio. Please continue to pray for this effort.

Recife

Randy Short

Thirty years and we are still excited about the prospects for the church here. On August 14, 1980, Mike and Peggy Palk, Phil and Patti Grassie, Joe and Linda McKinney, Mike Pruitt, and Randy and Kathy Short, along with the children of these families, stepped off the plane in Recife, Brazil. Later we were joined by Charley and Terri Taylor and their children to complete the team. We, along with Mike Pruitt, continue in Recife to this day.

A lot has happened in northeast Brazil in these 30 years. Other teams have come and gone in capital cities north and south. Hundreds of churches are now planted where in 1980 there were none. Thousands of Christians now walk with Jesus, and tens of thousands of people have heard the Gospel. As greatly blessed as we feel for having been used by God here, we still believe the best is yet to come. We hope you will look at how you have helped and be grateful to God for what He has done and how He has used you in this work.

What is happening here is truly amazing. We have never had this kind of reaction. Eighty-five people showed up this past Saturday to participate in our class on Basic Bible Theology (73 were visitors and 12 were members). That beat the record of 62 (50 visitors and 12 members) from the previous Saturday. We are pleased, amazed, and struck by the awesome responsibility we have with these wanting to learn God’s Word. We are amazed because this has never happened before. We have not done anything differently than on other occasions. Almost everyone heard about this on our radio program or by someone who heard the radio and passed it on! I must confess that I was considering stopping and investing the radio money in radio in smaller cities in the interior where I thought it would be more useful. Even today, this being the last week that we will allow signups for this class, after our program went off the air we signed up six more people for the class! Unless more money becomes available, the interior will have to wait as few places could possibly have this good of a reception. Our thanks to World Radio for supplying the money for this program!

Keep us in your prayers that we can do justice to this great gift God has placed in our hands.

Rio de Janeiro

The church in Jacarepaguá met for Sunday worship for the first time ever in part of the new building. Everyone was excited about meeting in the new facility. While it is still too small for our needs and doesn't allow us any room to grow, it is much nicer than where we had been meeting for the past ten years.

Alcideia, at 77 years of age, is among the oldest members of our congregation. She was radiant yesterday as she feared she might not live to see the day that we would meet around the Lord's Table in the new structure.

Please continue to pray for the growth of the Lord's kingdom in Rio de Janeiro and that He will provide the funds we need to continue the construction so that we will have the space we need to hold all of the people that He is sending our way.

CAMBODIA

Kampong Cham/All Cambodia

Bill Singleton/Hang Seng

July was a good, happy month for me personally with one exception. Poeu, wife of Hang, our radio speaker in Cambodia, lost a week-old baby boy. That was devastating and heart breaking for her. I love Poeu and her husband very much, so that was also very hard for my heart. Poeu lost another baby last year just prior to birth and she had a lot of hopes for her newborn. She named both boys a form of John and hoped for them to become preachers. Pray to God for her comfort. Natal and prenatal care in Cambodia are not very good.

During August there was a leadership training held in Kampong Cham with over 90 in attendance. Christians from Phom Pen, Toul Trail, Phom Thmy, Chann Oun Date, Chnay Kasong, Koh Dach, Prey Sak, Tangkok, and other congregations attended. The radio program continues to provide new contacts that turn into new congregations. The Christian fellowship was outstanding and eleven were baptized into Christ during the two-day meeting.

Pauley, father of Poeu, lead the 16 hours of leadership Bible teaching in August. Pauley has now baptized over 1,650. We try to have a similar training every two or three months. When the radio program or other outreaches provide us with new congregations, we do not then desert the congregations, but try to train the congregations’ chosen leaders so they can lead the congregations in the way described in the Bible. At first we also try to provide a circuit rider to help make sure a trained preacher leads the Sunday worship service.

The Christian Cambodian community is continuing to grow and prosper, but the exchange rate for the dollar is dropping rapidly. The dollar has lost about 25% of its exchange value in the last few months. The American dollar is worth a lot less now than in the recent past. We may be in store for a lot of inflation in the near future.

Sopy reports a new congregation near Tangkok with 10 baptized and over 40 asking to be baptized. BaRay Tik Tla is the name of the new congregation.

The topic of this past month was “What Is Sin?” This lesson is to make the listener understand that he has to have a good relationship with God because all the questions that man will have concerning sin will be personal. We don’t need a university certificate to recognize sin.

During this past month we had continuous contact with the listener of the village of Koundi. From time to time I go there, but I have met a problem there. A Roman Catholic priest came to discourage him saying that it is the only church that God has asked for all men to be saved. When I went to meet him he said that he is busy. All this is just to discourage this man. When I'm not in the village, he will ask to meet me, but when I'm there he will not have time.

We have 12 WBS courses going out. About the four visitors I told you about last time, two have given their lives to Christ in baptism, Crescence and Valerie.

We are so happy to let you know about this encouraging report. Augustin organized a group study for young men at his home after he received his baptism from Bertrand and Mandaba. He initiated this Bible class for his family. Later, friends within the same community became interested after hearing the teachings from Bertin and Bertrand. They were so impressed with hearing the truth and some of them have requested that they should be invited for further teachings and better understanding. We've carried it out for some time and the Lord finally blessed it when five of them had their baptism last week. Augustin, who is one of the students, was so happy and gives praises to the Lord for seeing two of his children obey the Gospel.

Mahamat Cyril has also been converted and we are glad to thank the Lord. Please remember all these six brethren in your prayers.

It is good to let you know that the Lord continues to bless our labor. Bertin and Bertrand had four baptisms this Saturday afternoon and I write to share this joy with you. I would certainly give you full detail in few days time.

Again many thanks for your concern and dedication for the expansion of the growth and the work in the heart of Africa (CAR).

Broadcasts are going very well. After the broadcasts I am always at the office to receive the courses and to answer the students and listeners of Way of Truth since they are invited to join me at the office.

The number of active students of French WBS Courses increases day by day. At the time when I write to you, we record 800 students who are active in spite of displacements of some for reasons of their studies or employment. Day by day we gain the confidence of our listeners.

After the biblical conference, we began a series of emissions of relevant questions. Here are some developed in the two last months:

-Christ founded only one church, which bears His name, church of Christ. From where did the multiple contradictory denominations come?

-Is man allowed to create his church or must he be turned over to the only true church of Christ?

-Why did the primitive church not use instruments of music in their worship? Hadn't the apostles read Psalm 150?

-From where do the instruments come from music in the modern worship?

-Does God make it possible for man to modify His words?

-If the Bible is enough to produce faith in man, for what are constitutions and traditions used for in the church?

After the emissions, I receive calls, messages, or visits of the listeners. You will find some messages here:

1. Mrs Adèle: “Hello, Mr. Djonga. I am in front of your shop of biblical courses. I want to see you. Is that possible?” 7/13/10 #66 23 88 39.

2. Kadjim Braces: “I am Kadjim Moïse. I am the charged one with material of the choral society French-speaking Emmanuel ACT of Goré.” 6/20/10 #66 60 68 51

3. Welcome: “I am Bienvenue; I live in the Dombao district in Moundou. I am a wife and mother of two children. I learned your message from the radio. God opened the door to me to return towards Him. This is why I also would like to share His Word with you.” 6/15/2010 #663496016

4. Djénaïssem Nestor: “Good evening! Please, I would like to know if the Bible study is free? Excuse me.” 7/24/10 #66 58 68 49

5. “Hello Mister! I just want to announce to you that tomorrow we want to go to be registered with the biblical course.” 7/24/10 #63 84 58 41

These are examples of the reactions of our faithful listeners. It is the occasion here to say to you that I appreciate the support which you give to support preaching with the radio in the whole world. May you be blessed forever. I believe with all of my heart that hearts are already being transformed and that fruits will not delay to expand.

Other news is that the WBS office where I receive my listeners was plundered by a robber on the night of July 27, 2010. They stole all that equipped the office. I ask you to put this situation in your prayers.

May the Lord bless the listeners and donors of World Radio.

I was absent for a short time carrying clothes and some food to the brothers of Banco Magdalena and the population of El Varal. Many needs are present in these communities and it is good to be part of the provision of God.

The radio program continues moving forward and is of great blessing for the city of Bucaramanga. We take as an indication of audience the days Monday and Friday when the telephone is opened for the audience to call soliciting prayer and giving thanks. We have been witness of some baptisms in the congregation. The program is an encouraging support for all.

To this work has been added Brhiam Forero, who along with Ricardo Moreno, are of much encouragement. Thanks to all. Remember that you can tune in to us Monday through Friday at
1:00 p.m. hour meridian Bogota on www.melodiaenlinea.com for the program Con la Biblia Abierta.

Greetings from the field of Croatia where we are grateful to have access to broadcasts and share the gospel message to a very religious Roman Catholic audience (which has been the national religion for centuries). This year marks the 20th anniversary of our Living Word radio program. For twenty years, World Radio has sponsored this vital communication to our local community. We are so thankful for all of you who have helped to make this possible! Our daily programs are covering the Old Testament prophets during August and September, and then we will teach about the New Testament until the end of this year.

During the month of June we had the baptism of Wendi. She is a young mother, married, with two daughters who after receiving several studies decided to be baptized. It is possible that in the future her husband also will be converted. She now belongs to the church in Santiago where we also are working.

During the month we had two negative mishaps. One was that while I drove to the church in Jarabacoa, I slept and crashed into the railing on the road. Thanks to God nothing happened to me, but the vehicle was affected considerably. The other was that my wife, Xiomara, while at home fell from her feet and the left foot had a fracture in three parts in the shape of the ankle. I hope that you’ll pray that God allows it to mend soon and correct these fractures. She helps me a lot in the work of the Lord. Without her it would be impossible to do the work that God has allowed to do here. As well she helps a lot in the family and is a great blessing for me.

Thursday, July 8, I will be leaving for Colorado, U.S.A. for some evangelistic campaigns. I will return Tuesday, July 13. I hope that you’ll pray for the campaigns, for my family, and for the departure and return that God guides us in all.

It was of much satisfaction to have Ben Adkins in my home and in the church, along with brothers Mike Kellett, Alan Robertson, Piere, and David Heath. The congregations remain marveled with their trip here. They hope for another trip from them to bring conferences to each one of the congregations.

A soul for Christ is worth more than all the money in the world. The group did an excellent work during their stay here. Thanks to God and to brother Alan for the topic on Hope. They want to hear it again. The brother that Alan baptized is very firm. His name is Virgilio Almonte. Other brothers baptized after the group’s departure were Domingo Peralta and David González.

In our country there has unleashed an outbreak of the epidemic called dengue fever produced by the mosquito. We have brothers in church hospitalized and 53 in this country have died, among them children and adults. Pray for this illness that has arisen in the nation.

Through the radio program we have new listeners that have been calling the radio. We made a visit to a place called Villa Bisono. There we spoke with a pastor and his wife and others. They are Pentecostals. The name of the man is José Eduardo and his wife Consuelo. We will be making a second visit to this place and I want you to pray a lot for this work. Last month we had two baptisms: Ismael Acosta and Lourdes Comprés. This month added to the church through baptism are: Michelon Alquelo, Ramón Estrella, María García, and Mildren Cava. This last one was a member of the Pentecostal Church. We pray much to God for the effort that you do for the work here.

Saturday, July 31, we were with the youth and children of Bible school along with the youth and children of the school in Esperanza on a country estate called San José. We cooked at the place and play various games. At the same time we are gave the youth a talk about the bad things that affect the world. We will have more than 100 children and youth.

August 16, Independence Day, we were with the youth in Montecristi with the purpose of helping them to maintain stability in the Lord’s church. Also there we did sports, we taught part of the history of this town, and there were wholesome games. All this we do with the desire that the youth remain in the church.

During this time we have continued the development of the radio program Buenas Nuevas Para Todos (Good News for All). The program has a good audience among the brothers and also the people of the community. We are trying in each program to take a good teaching to the radio listeners. We know that our efforts in the work of the Lord give their fruit in their time. This way we continue planting the Word of God in the hearts.

Also as each month, we have a Bible contest. For this month the Bible question was: Who wrote Acts of the Apostles?

Two people were baptized in the Church of Christ in Villa Jaragua. These two people before they were converted listened to the radio program. This way the program also was a motivation for them. They were baptized Wednesday, July 21.

This month we are working with cell groups or small groups and the people that belong to religious sects are attending the different studies that we offer. Thanks to God we have had several baptisms of these same people. These same people are listening to the radio program. We realize this by their telephone calls reporting their listenership.

We ask your prayers for the Constanza congregation. This congregation was at a camp and three of their members drowned. The church in this country is very dismayed by this tragedy.

We thank a merciful God that has put on your heart to continue helping us and He Himself with his infinite kindness will know how to compensate in your lives this gesture of love.

Power is the capacity to produce results and nothing has the power to produce salvation other than the Gospel of Christ, Rom. 1:16. The Hebrews writer says the Gospel is powerful and effective and Isaiah declares it is productive. Yes indeed, the Gospel has multiples effects, some visible and others invisible.

Often it’s the visible results that grip our attention. One such result that has brought the saints and me great joy is the conversion and baptism of Leticia Davies who started visiting us along with her mother who came to know about the church via my weekly radio broadcast some three months ago. Leticia took her mother who invited her at surprise when she requested baptism without consulting her. The mother asked her why she did not wait for her as she is contemplating her own baptism. I said told her mother that salvation is personal and the only consultation needed is with the Master Jesus and His Gospel. To that the mother said Leticia should be baptized immediately while she reflects on her own response to the Gospel.

Once more we have seen the great visible power of the Gospel in the death and resurrection of a dead and lost soul which took place on August 8, 2010. Aba, Leticia’s mother, is not far from following her daughter’s example. Your prayers can accelerate her decision.

Our school vacated for the academic year on July 30, 2010, to reopen in September for the next academic year. We will be adding our sixth grade class. A special thanks goes to all our sponsors and mission work supporters, most especially to my sponsoring congregation, the Center Street Church of Christ. This church has provided my family with not only financial support, but with love and prayers over the last 14 years of mission work spanning three nations: The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

We were blessed with the visit of Eugene Prince, minister of the Alabaster Church in Alabama who donated $8,000 towards our land purchase and another $2,000 towards the concreting of the front slab of our new edifice at Kanifing Church of Christ in The Gambia.

I need your prayers for my next mission trip to Liberia and Sierra Leone. I wish to offer special thanks to the Tusculum Church of Christ for her assistance in getting me a new and stronger PA system and $500 to purchase some Bibles for my upcoming trip. I still need Bibles for free distribution to our graduating WBS students.

GHANA

Sem Akumia

Gabriel Komahe Sessi is a fetish priest from the Republic of Togo. He listened to the World Radio sponsored program aired from Ho on the Volta Star and immediately destroyed his idols. The lesson on that day was titled “God’s Plan for the Obedient and Disobedient.” After destroying his idols, Gabriel rushed down to Ho to look for the presenter and the Church of Christ. He was finally baptized into Christ.

He stayed with us for another week before going back to his home in Togo. Unfortunately, he met a strong opposition to the point that they even plotted to take his life. He could not go into his house. Instead, he ran the same night back to Ghana. With the help of some brethren, he traveled to stay with his mother in the upper region of Ghana. Gabriel may never be able to return to his village in Togo, but he has found a new life in Christ, the old has passed away, now everything has become new. He has been translated from the power of darkness into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Let’s remember this young brother in our daily prayers during this transition from paganism to Christianity. This is the second time since the World Radio sponsored program started that a fetish priest has been converted.

During my follow-up trips this month, I was able to contact some of our radio listeners. After my studies with some of them, two in one village got baptized. They have since been worshiping with the congregation in that village.

Willie Gley

For two weeks, Sem Akumia was interpreting for some American missionaries in the Volta Region. The team moved from place to place preaching the Word. At the close of the second week, God blessed their effort with 150 baptisms and four new congregations planted. Each year Volta Region is blessed with a team of missionaries from the U.S.A. coming in to help evangelize. They conduct open air preaching and door to door evangelism.

Roberto Alvarez in Guatemala recently received death threats to him and also to his wife and children if he didn't pay a ransom to some gang. It is the latest evil that is growing in Central America. The gangs are actually killing family members to scare people into giving them money. The police are powerless in coping with these gangs as they threaten the police as well. Of course Roberto is worried, but will not pay the ransom. The Cloudcroft Church that sponsors the work there told Roberto that they would bring him to the U.S. if he wanted to be sure that he and his family were safe. Roberto said they prayed about it and decided to continue the work they are doing in Guatemala which is having such success in saving souls. They have changed their daily routines to try to confuse the gang that is threatening them, and they have discontinued some of the local work they have been doing because of the threats. Roberto is still preaching on the radio program weekly. Please pray for Roberto and his family that God will keep them safe and that they can continue doing the good work they do. Roberto is a tireless evangelist.

Roberto Álvarez

It is a great joy for me every time that I write my report to all of you because I feel all of you are very close of my heart and my love and my family’s love for all of you is very deep.

As you know the last weeks were very hard for us in Guatemala. In the beginning of the threats against us it was very scary, but we are sure that all the prayers of the saints for us are resulting in a great comfort from our God to us. Things are not too good, anyway. We have reports of suspect things around us. Last night at the Bible study in Pinares, Martha received a report from Mercedes that a guy was visiting the church and was asking about me. He said that he was looking for me to give me words of comfort for the death of my wife. Mercedes told him that my wife was fine, and that the one who passed away three weeks ago was a wonderful founder lady of our congregation, sister Tere. She was 64 years old. The guy said that brother Chepito (a member from Pinares) reported to him the death of my wife. I could not contact Chepito yet.

Also this morning before my return to home from the border of El Salvador, I needed to fix a tire that was looking flat since a week ago approximately, but I was just putting in air. So today I stopped in a shop to fix it and the guy that was fixing my tire told me it looked like a big nail. When he was taking out the “nail” it was really a bullet!

So, I hope all these are coincidences, but I request your prayers for us. We are o.k. in our spirits, we are happy in our occupations, and we are trying to maintain a normal life. You need to know that we are not the only ones in this situation. Counting only members from Pinares that received threats this year, we can remember 19 families!

Now, let me share with all of you about our work during the month of July. Thanks to God through this difficult situation I had more time to share with the preachers and congregations from the east, since I am not spending too much time in Pinares this month.

Since the threats I am trying to spend less time around the area of Pinares. So I visited with more emphasis the brethren who are living far away from the congregation. We are not attending the services at night in Pinares for precaution, but on Sundays I am spending all day in the different ministries of our congregation. In the morning I am preaching and in the afternoons we are working with other members in the visitation of the sick members, restoration, etc. Also on Sunday afternoons I am starting a Bible study with the leaders of the church every two weeks. Thanks to God during the month of July we had three baptisms in Pinares.

The young preacher Richard is reporting that thanks to God the new church in Estanzuela is doing well with big blessings of our God. I traveled to Estanzuela on July 15 going and back on the same day. I had the opportunity to spend four hours with Richard visiting the members and providing encouragement in the work. During July the church in Estanzuela had one baptism. Richard is reporting also that he is working hard presenting teachings about the church of the New Testament to the brethren there. Since they are almost all babes in Christ, they really need to be firm in the teachings.

Also this month our God gave me the blessing to visit brother Ricardo Santay at Palencia Church one morning. Ricardo and his six children look very happy! Brother Ricardo was sharing with me that during July his wife was very sick with malaria and was in the hospital a week. She is doing fine now thanks God. The church is doing well in Palencia. Ricardo is always busy doing evangelism, presenting Christian teachings, and maturing the members. He reports that Julio was starting to lead songs as a result of the training that Ricardo is giving to the men of the church.

The week before the threats, we had the blessing to travel to the area of La Union. With the students of BICA we spent one week in La Union in the mountains. Martha and I decided to bring our three children with us. We believed that it was a week of relaxation for them and of blessings also for the opportunity to share the Gospel like a family in La Union. Thanks to God through the work of the students, the nightly gospel meetings, and of course through the power of the Gospel, we had a harvest of 14 baptisms in La Union. Byron, the preacher in La Union, was very grateful with our God for the growth of the church that week.

Brother Humberto Vasquez reported that the church in Pacayalito is more mature. They have a program to train men, so he has men prepared to lead the services. Humberto is very active in the visitation of the members and in the evangelism. He reports two baptisms in Pacayalito during July. The congregation there has 55 members.

As you know, Timushan is the newest church in the mountains of La Union. Thanks to God there are 15 Christians with deep conviction to follow only the teachings of the Bible. Brother Francisco is the natural leader and preacher of the group. I was spent two days of my week having a wonderful time of Bible study with Francisco. I request your prayers for them because since they decided not to follow the teachings of man and follow the Bible only, they are receiving a lot of attacks from the Church of God from which they were former members, but they are strong in their faith in Jesus.

I just returned today from the border of El Salvador. The students of BICA traveled to the border last Sunday afternoon for work with four different congregations in the area on the Guatemalan-El Salvador border. They divided into four groups with each group working with one congregation in the area. I preached last Thursday and Friday in the congregation of Ahuachapan where 10 students of the Biblical Institute were working all week in personal evangelism. Thanks to God we had one baptism last night as a result of Friday’s gospel meeting. Also during the week the students baptized six more souls. The total of converts in the four places is 23 today. We hope that today and tomorrow the Lord will add more to His church. Glory to God!

Martha has not been attending the location of the Kyrios Christian School since the threats, but she is working hard at home making materials, printing tests, etc. Also she is in contact with the coordinators of the school by phone every day. As you know, we have a total of 638 children attending the school in the levels of pre-school and elementary. Thanks to God the Word of God is taught every day in the school. Also the teachers that are not Christian yet are being impacted with the Word of God. This year Elvia, who has worked with us for five years, started to attend the services. Thanks to God, Elvia is one of the people baptized at Pinares this month! Her husband is also starting to attend.

Sad news is that Lisseth, a good teacher working with us for four years, presented her resignation last week. The reason is that somebody is making calls to her cell phone bringing threats. They are not asking for money or anything, they are only telling Lisseth that they will kill her and that they know where she works and what buses she is taking every day. She reports three calls with the same threats. So her husband doesn’t want her to continue working. I request your prayers for Lisseth, please, because she is very concerned for this.

Again, thank you very much for all your important financial support for the Kyrios School because through this you are contributing to finish the poverty in the world. Also you are giving a literal change in the lives of these children that could not receive education without your help. We are so grateful with all of you and also with our brethren in Ozona for their special gift for the school every month. This help is a blessing that is allowing us to cover different areas of necessity in the children every month.

I canceled my trips to preach out of the city during the months of July and August as a precaution. I have planned to visit the churches of the area of Jutiapa in the month of August to provide encouragement and teachings to them.

We love you so much and we are sending our hearts filled of gratitude to all of you!

I am so happy to inform you about my radio program. First of all, I would like to thank all World Radio staff for their sacrifices to support and serve speakers all over the world. The last month was not very fruitful in souls, but several former Christians returned to church. Only 10 people have been baptized. Fifteen former Christians that left the church returned home. Two denominational congregations would like to become Church of Christ. I received about 100 calls. Many people request prayers for protection about the earthquake and hurricanes. They are afraid of what could happen. Thank you so much for your various assistances and may God keep blessing you.

This month was not very fruitful, but this does not mean that I caught no fish for God. Fifteen people have been baptized. I received about 100 calls from different people of various congregations. Many asked for prayers concerning rehabilitation of the last earthquake victims. Some people are still under stress because they have no hope except in Christ. Twelve former Christians got back home. Many visitors are making plans to get married so that they can be baptized.

On Friday, July 16, about 500 people met in my school in order to pray for World Radio and those who contributed to support them in the last six months. At the end they had a special prayer for the church building. Thank you so much for all and may God keep going with you.

My thanks for each of you for your effort and your vision you help me to reach all Haiti with the Gospel of Christ. Almost all Haiti listens to my broadcast. My biggest desire was to evangelize all my country, but it would be impossible to do that by myself. Through your support, I go everywhere and enter into all houses where the people live.

This month, I received 20 calls from Tomassique, eight from Lascohobas, three from Lavictoire, and from Pignon, Straphael, St. Michel de Latalay, and Port-au-Prince. My subject is to be reconciled to the Lord, Colossians 1:19-21. In verse 22 Paul established the difference before someone becomes a Christian and after someone becomes a Christian. It explains how Christ reconciled with us by his death on the cross.

We got four people who returned to the church and five others who were baptized for the forgiveness of their sins. They are the new babies in the church. Please pray for them.

This month I am working on the building for the school and the Church of Christ in Hinche. Soon I will work in Montegrando on drilling the well. Also I am organizing a four-day conference to share the Gospel with the blind.

At a little over five months after the earthquake, Haiti is still in a nightmare with Haitians sleeping in the open sky in a rainy season. The international organizations continue to witness the desperation in the eyes of children and families. Several hundred fellow Christians continue to look for places to stay. We want to thank God for Christian response to this awful disaster. With help from Christians, the Church of Christ has provided relief to the neediest. We have provided tents, tarps, and are operating one center of refuge for 200 Christians and directing a feeding program at the Delmas 28 Church ground zero site. When people realize the Church of Christ’s love in action, they ultimately turn to the Lord. From January to today, we count over 900 baptisms in Christ. We continue to provide hope in the midst of despair. Around 900 meet for worship at Delmas 28.

There is an invitation for each one of you to listen to the radio program Con la Biblia Abierta that is transmitted from Siguatepeque, Honduras on 950 AM, 96.3 FM, and by Internet on www.centroradialhn.com at 7:30 a.m. Central American time. Write us at: labibliaabierta.honduras@yahoo.com or hardila61@yahoo.com and with much pleasure we will be giving you a greeting. You can call 504-773-0111 during the program. You will be able to hear the voices of Juan de Jesús Ardila, Joseph, and this servant and friend Héctor Julio Ardila. People from many parts of the world have certified their audience to our program, which gives us sufficient encouragement to continue ahead. Our eternal appreciation to World Radio, the company of Centro Radial, and to all those that make it possible for this program to go on the air each morning.

A great collaborator, friend, and faithful listener to this program, Freddy Chávez, was called to the presence of the Lord. He died May 14. He worked at Centro Radial for many years.

In this quarter we didn’t have much success in conversions. There were only five baptisms, but this doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been work done. But we hope for better results for the following quarter.

Tegucigalpa

Rigoberto Vargas

We continue and don’t stop. The radio program continues on the air thanks to the help of the World Radio brethren.

Since January to July 2010 we have had 66 baptisms. The people that are deprived of freedom each Saturday are listening to the program. Each Saturday we receive letters from the jail from men and women and from the interior of Honduras. In the program we also announce each Sunday the worship services that the congregations have in Tegucigalpa.

HRVC La Voz Evangélica of Honduras increased the monthly price so we saw ourselves obligated to change radio stations. Now we are on Radio LA CATRACHA 1060 AM.

Testimony: My name is Cesar Villeda and I give thanks to God that I knew the doctrine of the Lord through the radio Program Jesucristo en la Prisión (Jesus Christ in the Prison). Now I worship with the Church of Christ in Colonia Kennedy, Tegucigalpa.

In July we gave out bags of food to the brothers of the Guanacaste Church on behalf of a group of Northamerican brothers that came from Tennessee. This was of much blessing.

INDONESIA

Steve Cate/Daniel Setiabudi

The radio broadcasts continue to be the source of all our new contacts. Without them, our adult teaching ministry would dry up. Daniel continues to teach anywhere from eight to ten students every day. We have recently conducted two seminars, one under Duane Morgan and one under Colin McKee. About 20 students attended each seminar.

Colin McKee taught a seminar on Saturday, June 26, 2010, in Bekasi, Indonesia for the students from the radio program. Daniel writes:

We started with the English class at 8:30 a.m. and had four students. Then we followed that up with the Bible seminar at 10:00 a.m. All classes were taught by Colin McKee and we finished at around 1:30 p.m. We had two class sessions with a "cake break" in the middle and then had lunch before the question and answer session began. There were 20 radio students and members of the church in attendance.

ISRAEL

Jerusalem

Joseph Shulam

Kol HaYeshua Radio is suffering a major shakeup. Through The Bible (T.T.B.) is cutting as of October 2010 their Hebrew broadcasts and that means that if we want to continue broadcasting a full hour each evening we would have to raise the funds for the additional half hour that we are losing. Trans World Radio is doing a great job for many years paying for our broadcasting of half an hour per day and T.T.B. paid for the second half an hour. This is a matter for prayer, but we are also resigned before the Lord that even half an hour is a great opportunity to potentially bring Good News to every household in Israel and in fact to the whole Middle East from Ukraine in the north to Sudan in the south.

World Radio is supporting Kol HaYeshua in Israel and is a partner in the production of these important programs in the language of Yeshua and the Apostles - the Hebrew. We appreciate it very much and we of course would appreciate your prayers and support. If it is God's will to provide for us the second half hour that we are losing from Trans World Radio, we would all rejoice, but if not, we will continue to produce the programs the best that we can and look for opportunities to share the Good News with the Jewish and Arab people of the Middle East in the Hebrew language. We will manage to do right and produce the best programs possible even in only 30 minutes of broadcast per day, but having 60 minutes would be so much more effective and powerful.

We appreciate so much all of you who continue to sacrifice and support and enable the Lord’s work and the food distribution and radio broadcast and the publications etc. etc. etc. Thank you all and may God bless you.

KENYA

Eldoret

Charles Cheruiyot

Being there for the Lord in and out of seasons; it is winter time in Kenya and many people are indoors, but with the company of the radio by their side. This is evidenced when we receive calls from audience across the land commenting on the program asking questions and inviting us to visit them in their homes.

Currently there is a hot campaign for the proposed constitution and those who are for it and against it are busy traveling across the land trying to convince the citizens of the contents in the draft. Most Christians here and other citizens are against the proposed draft due to a conflict of interest in Christian values. However, the referendum day will be August 4 when the people of Kenya will be making a decision on whether to adopt or reject. Prayers are needed here so that the will of God may be done and have peace even after the referendum. (Note: We are doing well in Kenya after conducting a peaceful referendum that saw our country adopt a new constitution since independence. Even though it is not perfect nor supports many Christian values, we feel it is better than the first one.)

Meetings are going on in our churches with reports on the new converts mainly in villages where the message of Christ is preached through the radio. The Christians here lead by faithful men of God are light in the communities from which they come. Whenever there are public functions attended by dignitaries, they recognize the church by inviting ministers of the Gospel to lead in prayers before the start of any event. This shows that God is being respected even where the leaders are not Christian or have not been born again.

During the month of August there will be meetings lined up across the region for Bible studies, songs, fellowships, and prayers since the schools break for holidays, thus paving the way for accommodation to Christians to meet in school settings due to availability of facilities needed for such functions. Preachers in Kipkelion South Rift Valley Province have requested us to help them start a Bible school to help equip men and women who will serve God as they influence their culture and generation. Pray for us so that this project can start alongside other projects of helping orphans and widows in the community.

Hebert Bernard Opula is standing in for Christopher Otsieno on the Luyha program Kukhalusye Muvangeli (Back to the Bible) since Christopher moved to Busia near Uganda to help with the orphans. He is very busy and whenever he comes to Eldoret he does speak on the radio on short occasions only. The programs are doing well since we get feedback every now and then.

Herbert Opula

God has continued to be faithful in this great ministry of reaching the lost souls back to his kingdom. I have continued to receive many encouraging messages from my listeners who are testifying how the program is changing their lives.

Recently one of my listeners invited me to speak during a community function where three gave their lives to Christ through baptism. Now the church is growing very first due to the gospel outreach through radio. Radio will always be the best tool to reach out.

Last week a father of four called me immediately after the program and invited me to his home to go and speak to his two rebellious sons who have refused to go to school. He believed that for the situation they were in, only God could change them. He had a great conviction about the issue. I thank God Almighty for His powerful intervention. After speaking to them severely and fasting, they opened up their heart in repentance and have agreed to go back to school. Praise God.

Joseph Maiyo

Receive greetings in Jesus’ Name. I have continued to get a lot of encouragement from my listeners through phone calls and short messages. God has continued to give me new strength and I am very happy to be part of this great ministry which is touching the lives of many lost souls.

Kipketer of Ndalat wrote me a short message thanking the program for good council to the youth. He says that he always learns new things from the program. He urges his fellow youth to make a point of listening to the youth program and their lives will never be the same again. Kichumba of Kabiyet called and says that he is a youth who has a great plan in life. He says that he has learned so many things about life in the program and wishes that the youth program could be longer. He said it has changed even his way of thinking and handling sensitive issues. Susan from Lessos called and said that she is 19 years old and training to be a nurse. She started listening to this program last year and from the very first time she listened to it she was blessed. Since then she always listens to the program for it has opened her inner eyes and that she can now differentiate what is good and bad for her youthful age. She thanks the speaker very much for his wise teachings to the youth who are very sensitive in certain areas. Shalom.

Ezekiel Ngososei

May I thank God for sustaining me and my country Kenya to seek for peace and stability during this time for making a new constitution for the nation? We are praying for God to intervene and work for peace so that we do not witness what was there during and after the election in the year 2007-2008 whereby several people were evicted from their homes and others losing their precious souls. This is the first time I have ever seen a church and a state racing against each other. The church in our country is not happy about the elevation of Muslim religion and leaving out Christian religion. The church is also against abortion being allowed and now they are not supporting the constitution. As this is going on, the Word of God is being spread to spearhead Christians to stick to Christian ethics during this time.

I am receiving very many calls, short messages, visits, and others. The Lord is strongly being uplifted as a result of the radio program. My colleagues whom I work with are coming to the Lord after listening to the radio program. Radio has made the Lord’s follow-up program very effective. This month I have baptized two souls. Weekday meetings are enlarging day by day as I always announce them through the radio. The program for the congregation in the locality is communicated easily through the tool (radio). I pray that God continues to touch our brothers and sisters who are supporting this great ministry and may they be blessed abundantly.

Kisii

I coordinated a national workshop for the deaf in Rongo city. It’s an annual workshop which we hold every month of June. This year we held it June 11-13. We had over 200 deaf people who attended the workshop from all over Kenya. We were also blessed to have deaf visitors from Texas, U.S.A. who paid us a courtesy visit at the workshop. Eight deaf participants were baptized as a result of the workshop.

The deaf orphanage that I am building is about ready now. It’s called Sam’s Place –a new beginning for the deaf orphans in Kenya. South 11th and Willis Church of Christ are the sponsors of this orphanage. The responsibility of the construction was entrusted to me, of which I am thankful to the Lord God for helping me to build this house successfully.

Now that the building is ready, we are thinking about how to get the children into their new home. I have been requested to lead this institution as the executive director, the request that I have honored. I will move there in a few weeks from now. However, my new responsibility will not take me away from my evangelistic duties. I will still be a preacher for Mogesa Church of Christ, radio preacher, and follow up WBS contacts. The only difference is my place of residence.

If you are visiting Kenya, please seek to visit us at Sam’s Place. Call me on my cell phone 254-728-171799, or e-mail me at ongiri2@yahoo.com. I will be so happy to hear from you. Please pray for me and my family as we prepare to take our new responsibility.

Kenya may go into a major transition today if the Kenyans will vote in a new drafted constitution. The voting is taking place today Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010. Please pray with us in agreement this time for us Kenyans to maintain peace, unlike other election years which were followed by chaos and skirmishes.

The World Radio team in Kisii will hold two major annual meetings for all congregations in Kisii. The first one will be at Nyamue Church of Christ August 12-15. The theme will be “Serving God.” The next meeting will be at Ntana Church of Christ August 26-29, still working for the theme. Our Mogesa Church of Christ is also thinking to hold an open air crusade sometime next month, but plans are underway.

Mombasa

Morisho Mutupeke/Michael Mutai

I had a nice time and an encouraging one for I visited one of the prisons we have in Mombasa, Kenya, known as Shimo la Tewa which is the second largest in Kenya. The reason as to why I am saying it was a nice time and good experience I had is because on that particular day when I visited them I wore the prison uniform and because I was there for two weeks. All those jobs done by the prisoners I did, that is splitting firewood, masonry, welding, and washing clothes. The prison is divided into two sections. The men and women sections are given different kinds of jobs to keep them busy the whole day. Also training takes place.

The prison wardens allowed me in without any problem and in this way they really appreciated the World Radio broadcast for that good job I did there. I was doing the work when Ken Beckloff and his wife were here and have more details that you can confirm from brother Ken who will tell you more.

After the job we took a period of one hour and a half to discuss the Bible and pray for them from 2:00-3:30 p.m. They were divided into groups since they are very many and can’t be kept in one area. The reason as to why I did all this work was to praise God and show them an example of what a servant should be. After that twelve people were baptized, both men and women. Many prisoners cried when I told them that I would be leaving them. I thank God for even now many have sent information via radio that we remember them in prayer and visit them again.

I would like to thank the Almighty God for His tender care upon my family and me and also for his peace, love, and unity upon the draft constitution. It was the best peaceful election that ever happened in Kenya. Glory be to God!

I had a good time visiting Grandfathers Home Care. This is a place where old grandfathers who have reached the age of 70 years and above are taken care of when their families have abandoned them. It is under the care of the government. This house is widely known as “Nyumba ya Wazee-Tudor” in Mombasa. It was a pleasure together with Baraka FM presenter Alphonce Oladipo to visit that house and share with them a word from God.

Since the start of this house “Nyumba ya Wazee-Tudor” there has been no one, especially a church, that has visited them and shared with them the Word of God. Therefore it was the first time for the World Radio program broadcast to visit them.

My main aim for visiting them was to give them hope in their life through the Gospel. In Kenya the government brings together all the old people who cannot cater for themselves and places them under one roof to cater for their needs. Also as a Church of Christ World Radio broadcast, we decided to visit them so that we can feed them with the Word of God and encourage them. On the first, second, and third days they were not that interested, but as the days went by they found it more useful to their lives since we took two weeks. The Word/Gospel starts at 8:30-11:30 a.m., lunch, break (sleep), then 3:00-5:00 p.m. we close by a word of prayer.

What made me happy was that these old people reach a time when they go back and act like kids. Most of the activities that they like were telling stories, singing gospel songs, playing with them, and also telling stories about their past. What I learned is that we should be close to them to give them hope in their entire life.

On the last day their officials (government official) came and we did our final farewell party with them. They also requested a service each Sunday since Sundays they are always bored and reluctant. I also passed this message to brother Michael Mutai in which he was very happy to know that. On August 1, 2010, after church service I visited them and had a word of prayer with them. They were really happy to see me. I need your prayers towards these people and I hope that God will open a way for us.

LIBERIA

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County

Maxwell Whea

For us in Liberia God is working through us to have His Gospel spread in Liberia. I have been out of town for a while now working with local churches in Grand Bassa County. We are doing the final planning of the big gospel meeting slated Dec. 5-12, 2010. We have invited about ten denominational churches to join us as we teach the gospel to all. By so doing we have concerted many of them.

In Grand Bassa, we have been teaching on the radio the topic “The Great Invitation and the Blood of Christ,” Mt. 11:28. We had three baptisms in Bassa this July and August 2010.Those baptized were Nathan Logan (31), Natomah Jones (28), and Rachel Jones (23). They all worship with the Corn Farm Church of Christ.

Monrovia

Maxwell Whea/Sammy Yarkpawolo

We have been teaching on the topic “Worship on the Sabbath or the Lord's Day?” There were five baptisms in the Monrovia area. Those baptized were Jenneh Coleman (20), Abrabam Barclay (27), Lawerance Jackson (24), Eunice Davis (22), and Ruth Davis (14). All of these are located in the Sinkor Old Rd. area and so we encourage them to worship at the Smythe Rd. Church where bro. Maxwell Whea preaches.

Weala

George Tengbeh

Both May and June have been good with us at the radio station. The Gospel is being preached every Sunday from 8:00-8:45a.m. There are so many listeners at this time because there are a lot of people who go to worship God. The message goes to Felalah, German Camp, Salala, Gibi, and many other places. This program, as I said before, is helping us to take the Gospel to where we can't go. With the exception of Gibi, the churches of Christ are planted in all of the towns mentioned in this report. We are thankful to World Radio for the support.

The months of July and August have been very busy for me. I have been out for Islamic evangelism. I have been going out to different places training church leaders how to reach out to the Muslim community with the Gospel of Christ. It has been so successful. Most of the places I went are mostly dominated by Muslims such as Mangochi, Balaka, Machinga and Zomba Districts. This is the southern region of Malawi.

I also went up to the northern part Malawi in Rumphi district where I fulfilled two assignments. At Rumphi Church of Christ I had another successful meeting with 167 church leaders in attendance on how to reach out to Muslims. Most church leaders confessed the need for evangelizing Muslims as it has been overlooked because of lack of knowledge on how to reach out to them.

I also distributed seven wheelchairs to some individuals. I can tell you that you cannot see the impact as I am saying, but only if you could see and hear the audience and recipients’ appreciation. The impact to the lives of many people has been very much encouraging. With those who received wheelchairs they could not believe how this happened to them because some of them have never had had a wheelchair before. They had to be picked up and down when they needed to change places. Some of the critical time is when one had to be helped to a pit latrine.

Another interesting thing is you may recall as I reported about Yusuf Ali of Omar whom I met in Nairobi, Kenya, who was touched by my teaching him. Just a month ago he called me looking forward to seeing me another time this year for more discussions here in Malawi. Please continue praying for the work and laborers.

MALI

Although we began our leave in Ghana with some malaria, God willing, we returned to Mali with good health condition. We came to find all the brothers and sisters here in good condition of health also.

The two local evangelists I left behind for leave also did a great job with a rotation plan of visiting the sister congregations every week (each Saturday) and designed one of them to worship the next day (Sunday) in the congregation they visited on Saturday. The sister congregations they visited were Sénou, Banakoro and Kati.

As I stated in my summary report presented to the elders during my visit to the Nsawam Road Church of Christ in Accra, Ghana: “The Editor of the Journal LE BON BERGER (The Good Shepherd), Mr. Valery Karim NIGNAN has closely examined the doctrine of the church of Christ throughout our studies with him and compared it to the various churches. He has admitted that we preach the truth. He lives in an area about 30 kilometers from Baco-Djicoroni ACI and works with a church belonging to one Mr. Mark. He has now decided to move into the house which he has recently rented for his family to live close to us to allow his family to become members of the church of Christ. The house is about four blocks from our place.”

Our studies continued since I returned from leave, and today, August 28, 2010, he and his wife Marcella Dakouo also known as Madam NIGNAN were baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit for the remission of their sins. Their major problem was on the Holy Spirit, so when I came back from leave, he asked me to prepare lessons on the Holy Spirit which I agreed and am still teaching it on both Sunday classes and Thursday evenings.

In first place I thank God for all His blessings. He gave me a place to work in his kingdom, made me a member of his universal family, the church, and gave me a heavenly promise of eternal life.

On Monday we leave for Covadonga to start a week of work. We will visit people from the village near Covadonga and will have an evening preaching for the Covadonga people. Also planned are Bible classes for women, children, and teenagers to be held during the day.

The last week of July the National Youth Meeting will be held in Cd. Juarez. This will be the 37th year this event has taken place. Hundreds of young men and women have been baptized over the years.

On Sunday, María Vasquez was baptized at Moctezuma Church. She is blind and over eighty years old, but she is enthusiastic and her voice is always cheerful.

Michelle and Sugary, two very young girls, were baptized a few weeks before sister María. They are twelve years old and their parents are faithful church members. These two girls are bright and they may be a great blessing for the church in the years to come.

Raquel is married to Polo. They have been church members for more than twenty years. She is in a wheelchair and it seems that she has been in a wheelchair since she was very young. She is smart, a hard worker, faithful Christian, and a devoted listener of our radio preaching. She is not just a listener; she teaches other people what she learns. A few weeks ago Rachel's sister was baptized. She is also a listener of our radio preaching, but her sister was the agent that brought her to Christ.

“I never missed one of your radio preachings," said Valentin Galvan when visiting the radio station on July 14. He came to the radio station to get a CD with church songs and to meet us. Valentin is a nice young man with a great interest in knowing Jesus’ teachings. Like Valentin, there are many more people, thanks to God.

I am planning to organize a World Radio evangelism meeting and to invite all those that are listening to the radio preaching. I know that many won’t be able to attend, but we may get a good response and many good results. We will continue working on this project and will let you know about it.

Last month I was in Nava, a city very close to the U.S. border. On Friday evening after a church Bible study a good number of church members were outside the church building visiting when two young men stopped their pickup truck, got out and walked to us. They asked for the pastor and asked the pastor to preach for them. They walked inside the church building and the Nava preacher prayed for them. When the two young men left nearly everybody in the group started saying in low voices, “They are Zetas, they are Zetas.” At that time the idea to write these notes came to my mind under the heading “Some Zetas Believe in God.” But I wonder after the events of the last two weeks where Zetas killed the city mayors of two cities not far from Torreón and also 72 persons from Central and South America. So I had to change the heading to “Do Zetas Believe in God?” Please continue praying for this country.

The church of Christ that meets in the neighborhood of Guadalupe, León, Nicaragua is very happy and satisfied with the radio program that each week permits the Holy Word of God to be revealed not only to our spiritual community, but also to the western departments of León and Chinandega. As well, the program has allowed to be made known the weekly activities of the church and the different needs that exist.

Special news is the opportunity for the sisters of our congregation to be able to participate in the radio program. The “Ladies’ Class,” as it is known by all, is a group of sisters, the majority married and with homes faithful to the Lord, that meets each Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the church building to study the Word and to pray for all the needs that there are in the church. They also do different activities during the year to raise funds and give homage to the older members of the church, giving them a monetary gift. The great majority of these older members are very poor and their biological families don’t give them much support, but the Christian women never forget them.

The director of the women’s group is sister Arabella Valle, wife of brother Leonel Valle, our congregation’s evangelist. She and another group of sisters now have the responsibility to participate in the radio program. They do it two times a month, the second Saturday and the third Sundays. The radio space is used by them to spread the different activities that the ladies group does and to also present devotional thoughts and prayers for all the needs of the church.

Day by day there are more homes that listen to our radio program. The brothers are very happy for the first time in history to be able to have a radio program that gets better to the measure that the presenters and preachers acquire more experience.

The radio program has been a great blessing for all the local churches of Christ in the city of León, whose evangelists invite all the members to listen to the program along with their families and friends, demonstrating that the program has been converted into an effective means to propagate the gospel of salvation. The church in general now can spread the Gospel with more enthusiasm discovering with this tool a way to establish contacts with friends and to be able to take them the words of encouragement, strength, and above all salvation for their lives.

Something very important this month has been the implementation of a preaching role. For this, bro. Leonel Valle, evangelist for the Church of Christ, Bo. Guadalupe, León, held a meeting with all the preachers of the congregations to encourage them to participate in the radio program and to agree on general preaching themes for each month and specifically for each program. In this way one could have a better order and logical sequence appropriate for this type of program. A total of 14 preachers have confirmed their participation in the radio program which allows us a bimonthly role in a way that preachers assigned during the month of June will return to participate in the program in August. Those that are assigned the month of July will preach again in September.

All the preachers talked of the pertinent need to elaborate sermons with a double purpose in their message. This way we have doctrinal to fortify the members and evangelistic to invite many people to come to the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ and obtain salvation for their lives.

It fits to highlight the labor of some youth from the Church of Christ that have faithfully been helping the service of this program receiving calls and noting greetings or special petitions: Carlos Treminio, Janis Arbizú, Ernesto Munguía, and Paola Rosales. And all this has been possible thanks to God and to the kind sponsorship received on the part of World Radio and the White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ.

NIGERIA

Awka, Anambra State

Christian Nwachuckwu

The radio program is progressing as the Lord would have it, creating much impact and recording a huge success. Thank you for your continued financial support and prayers for the program. The theme for this quarter is “And You Shall Know the Truth” (John 8:32), and the following are the sub topics discussed:

Truth about Truth

Does the Truth Exist?

Personal Commitment to Truth

Truth about Life

Truth about Death

Truth about Heaven

Truth about Hell

Truth about Worship

Truth about Tithes (Part1) Tithes Paid in the Old Testament

Truth about Tithes (Part 2) Tithes in the New Testament

Truth about Tithes (Part 3) Reasons why Members of the New Testament Church Do Not Pay Tithes

Truth about God

Speaking the Truth in Love

Within the quarter, one listener was baptized into the Lord. Many calls and text messages were recorded and questions were scripturally answered. The churches that meet, Oji River and Inyi in Enugu State, reported that the programs have popularized the church in their areas and that many people are being baptized as a result of listening to the program. Many listeners are requesting that the messages are put into recorded form in DVD, video, and CD for them to buy. This will be done as soon as the funds are raised.

On June 11-13, we held a three-day evangelism at Umunze in Orumba South local government of Anambra State. During the program two persons were baptized. Many Christians have been living in that place for years without worshipping because the church does not exist there, and they were discovered. On Sunday, June 13, 2010, the church started there with 42 persons in attendance, but the main people who will be worshipping there were 16 in number. Since then, four more persons have been baptized into the Lord.

We have reached an advanced stage to start a new congregation at Ifite Awka. As you could remember, this was where we conducted evangelism last year in which two souls were baptized. There are many Christians that go from here to the town to worship. The church will commence worshipping on the third Sunday of next month.

In another development, a campus fellowship has been started at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. I meet with the students on Fridays 5:00-6:00 p.m. for Bible studies and prayers. All of these are as a result of evangelistic efforts and the radio ministry.

Onitsha, Anambra State

Felix Aniamalu

The last two Sundays a soul was baptized into the Lord in my congregation. On Monday I will travel to Taraba, a state in northern Nigeria, with a young man I ministered to in prison three years ago. He is now free and is in one of our Schools of Preaching training to become a preacher. He is on teaching practice and is staying with me and will accompany me in this evangelistic trip.

It is good that I write you to post you of the outcome of our trip to Wukari and Jalingo in Taraba State of Nigeria. I really thank God the journey was made without any mishaps on our way to and from the two cities in Taraba.

We (Raymond Onwumere, Tawo Peter Odu, a student preacher who is on teaching practice with my congregation, and I) left Onitsha around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday morning and got to Wukari, one of the locations where brother Stephen Ugbo made arrangements for WBS students in that area to be talked to around 6:15 p.m. We checked into a lodge and followed Stephen to check on one of the students close by. As the student was not at home, we retired to our lodging place after visiting Stephen’s residence. In the morning of the next day (Wednesday) we met the lady we visited her house in the night and also talked to one of the attendants at our lodge. Both affirmed the truthfulness of the message they heard, but none yielded for baptism.

We left Wukari that same Wednesday morning for Jalingo (about three hours drive from Wukari) as Stephen informed us we would meet with some of the students from noon and attend to others on Thursday. We were disappointed as we met with only one student who was going for a program in her church and promised to come to see us at the venue Stephen arranged on Thursday, July 1. We attended the evening service of Air Strip Church of Christ where Stephen worships on Wednesday evening and pleaded that they ask those whom they know as students of WBS or those who want to enroll to see us at the scheduled venue the next day. They appreciated our visit and promised to co-operate with us in making our mission a success.

Thursday morning, we started the day with the visit of a Deeper Life Bible Church pastor who wants to enroll with WBS (Geoffrey Gogoni). He was referred to us by one Philemon, a member of Air Strip Church of Christ. He was followed by one John G. Moses, the founder of Fire of God Church and a WBS student. Both attested to learning the truth, but insisted that they had to go home and ponder over the things they were taught while still studying WBS lessons. We persuaded Geoffrey to possibly arrange for us to minister to his entire congregation that he said he is grooming for baptism. We pray that after having thought over the message of salvation he heard he will not only submit himself, but allow us an audience with the generality of his group. In my judgment, the two are only afraid of losing their position and the material benefits they derive from those they lead. We also talked with one Overseer Yaro, a member of the Baptist Church. Overseer was so happy for learning the truth that he insisted that we would not bear the cost of transport to the stream to baptize him. The moment we returned from the waters of baptism he went out and came back with some money, begging us to take it as he was very happy.

With the baptism of Overseer we all rejoiced and prayed for God to give us more souls. A group of about 20 young men and women were assembled through the effort of bro. Stephen’s wife and one bro. Philip, a school teacher who lives close to bro. Stephen. Most of those were members of the United Methodist Church of Nigeria (UMCN) and a good number of them are students of a College of Education close by. To God’s glory, four young ladies out of the lot decided to put on Christ in spite of distractions from their peers. The baptized young ladies are: Amy A. Shamaiki, Comfort V. Musa, Faith Christopher, and Glory Aisak.

On Friday morning bro. Peter re-invited some of those talked to the previous day for further discussion, but none of those were moved to obey the Gospel. We left Jalingo for Wukari to see if we could see some other students before our return to Anambra State on Saturday, July 3. It is good that this move resulted in the conversion of two young men who were passing by and were invited by bro. Peter: Emmanuel Tanko and Danasabe Ingyeka. I could still feel the dirtiness of the mud water where I baptized these two young men.

In all, I really thank God for His mercies. Please pray for these precious souls that they might remain firm in the faith.

I write to post you of the outcome of our proposed campaign at Okwe area of Asaba in Delta State of Nigeria. The campaign eventually came up last Saturday and to my greatest surprise the brethren that honored the invitation were twice my expectation. While I expected about 50 persons, about 100 turned out for the campaign. We were able to stage open-air preaching at two distinct points simultaneously and a greater number of those in attendance embarked on house to house preaching.

To God’s glory, besides two families of about six Christians who were converts through our T.V. program, we found about seven other Christians who live in that area and are now part of the church which we started there on Sunday, July 11. We were 14 adults and six children that worshipped last Sunday. Some of our prospects could not attend owing to a heavy downpour we had Sunday morning. After the service I had to visit some of the prospects with some of those who worshipped. If all is well, we will baptize a husband and wife who are serious members of Pentecostal Churches and had read and digested some of the tracts given out to them on Saturday. I was just asked to clarify some issues in the tract.

Yesterday, July 14, 2010, after our midweek Bible study we had two young ladies baptized into Christ. It also rained heavily and the flood was so much that the baptism was deferred until today, but could not since the span of their lives is not in our hands.

May I post you that the campaign we had at Asaba in Delta State of Nigeria is still yielding results as a soul was baptized last week Sunday. The lady who was baptized promised to come to services with her entire family next Sunday.

Information I received from a preacher in Iyiowa Odekpe area of Anambra State also shows that an Anglican family that has been following our program for some time now visited them to investigate the church of Christ. According to him, an argument ensued between the husband and wife over the baptism of their little baby. The husband insisted the baby should not be sprinkled upon and that they should visit and investigate the church of Christ whose message they have heard on the air on the issue and other religious issues. I pray and hope that family will obey the Gospel in no distant time.

Meanwhile, the Onitsha program has finally stopped for want of funds, but the impact continues to be felt within Anambra and the surrounding states.

Our Lord has been so good to me. I visit the radio station and continue to talk with the staff. They have been grateful for the sermons presented as they are encouraged and want me to continue preaching. Responses coming in from provinces that can tune in were great.

Former MBC students that came by to visit us said that the lessons become part of their devotional time. I am now in the books of I, II, and III John. Two such students were Thomson and Carl who have expressed that doors are opening for them to talk about the Gospel to their families and tribes. Please pray for those that are in areas we are not able to reach except only through the air waves.

Thank you for all your love, prayers, partnership, and support to the radio ministry.

As you are busy on the other side of the globe, we are also in the Lord's business here in the Philippines, particularly in Baguio City; Bokod, Benguet; La Union, and Pangasinan provinces.

For the spiritual harvests in June, three persons were added to the Lord's church as results of personal study, follow-up, and radio preaching. Immersed into Christ after completing the seeker's lessons were as follows: Angeline Linggon (52) an employee of the Development Bank of the Philippines from Poblacion Tuba, Benguet (June 14), Samuel Quesada (37) of Pongpong, Sto. Tomas, La Union, and Anderson Pucay (17) of Daclan, Bokod, Benguet, a high school graduate, but now a first year student of the Philippine Theological College in Bugallon, Pangasinan (June 18).

Other activities at Midtown Church in Baguio City involve a church forum every Tuesday. A care group devotional is held every Wednesday night. An evangelistic class meets every Thursday with four physicians, three dentists, and their staff. There are the ongoing activities of conducting vigil or funeral services for both members and non-members, visitation, counseling, and exhortation of both members and non-members.

On the weekends I visit churches and help in both evangelistic and edification programs. I have attended and participated in several preachers and leaders' forums in the Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija provinces.

Last June 26, I spoke on Mission Work/Church Planting in the province-wide lectureship. This Saturday, July 3, Pangasinan leaders, preachers, members, and some students from PTC, Bugallon, church planting activities will be started in Bayambang, Pangasinan, one of the 19 provinces (out of 44 towns and 4 cities) that are without any church of the Lord. Funds to be used are voluntary contributions from Pangasinan churches.

Please, pray for all these efforts so that the church of the Lord as described in the New Testament will be established in Pangasinan in five year’s time, Lord willing.

Now for my July report, allow me to list the activities that I had for the spread of the Gospel of Christ: June 26- speaker during the Pangasinan Lectureship held at the Philippine Theological College in Bugallon, Pangasinan on “Doing Mission Work;" July 7 and 14- church planting in Bayambang, Pangasinan- I was part of the volunteer team that taught WBS and radio contacts on Fridays and Saturdays; July 10 Preachers and Leaders’ Forum in Binalonan, Pangasnan.

Four baptisms were made in four different areas, namely: Rebecca Tomilas (52) housewife of Bobok, Bokod, Benguet (June 27); Mark Louie Pilien, a college student of Nothrern Philippines University in Vigan, Ilocos Sur (July 11); Christian Daniel Espinosa (14) of Baguio City (July 4); and Gina B. Sanchez (28) of Dagupan City, Pangasinan (July 18). These are all radio listeners who were taught the Seeker's lessons.

In Baguio City, aside from being a member of the admin., evangelistic, mission outreach, and guidance counseling ministries, I teach a Bible study group every Wednesday in Baguio City, Seeker's lessons on Thursdays 1:00-2:00 p.m. with some medical and dental practitioners, and study groups on Fridays and Saturdays in Pangasinan.

Five persons committed their lives to the Lord by being immersed into Christ this month of August. These are regular radio listeners whom we contacted and taught personally the way of the Lord. They were as follows: Phil Mark Sedano (a second year college student of St. Louis College, taking up BSBA) and Raquel Rosado Magalong (18) from Mankayan, Benguet. She is a first year veterinary medicine student of Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet. Also baptized were Jazen A. Aquino (16) a 4th year high school student and Stephanie Ivy Jadormio (17) years old, both of Camp 6 in Baguio City. Maria Fatima B. Abad (18) of Dagupan City gave her life to Christ. She works as a caregiver to brother Roland Wade, a retired U.S. Navy serviceman.

Pagadian City

Feliciano Blen

Thank you brethren for your love and concern for me because you have continued to support our radio program. God has been good to me and I hope that God has been so good to each one of you there, our beloved brethren at World Radio.

We are continuing our commitment to bring the message of hope to all men in this city and striving so hard to let them understand that God loves them and that His love involves showing the way of salvation, redemption, forgiveness, and eternal life. It is really true how the Lord Jesus said that people in this world are blind spiritually. That is, they hardly see the truth, no matter what we try in any way to let them understand God’s plan of redeeming man. But we don’t lose hope. We will continue and as far as we can see, there are some who are slowly getting to know better each week.

Our radio program is continuing and it helps in our contacts to extend our Bible study on the air. They are responding by sending me sms through their cell phones. They can also get some additional information about our meeting place here so that when they come they will get the right directions. Our second assembly time is at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday and this is our regular assembly. In this schedule, we have a good Bible study that will give additional knowledge to our visitors as well as the members in knowing God’s plan of redeeming man which is our theme for this year. They can also be benefited by the group interaction of the whole congregation.

Our young people here are also participating in our tract distribution. They give special devotional service to some families who are a part of those families who are not so active in church activities. Recently they have gone doing this to the Babao family, and they are encouraged to receive such an activity in their home every Saturday. Saturday nights they have a good music class which I have offered to them so that they can have good singing abilities and some of the boys could become song leaders some day. My nephew, Rommel Blen, who was baptized about a year ago now, is already a song leader in this congregation. I am so thankful for their interest in knowing how to sing the notes on different voice parts. We hope this could be more fruitful in the future.

We are very thankful to all of you our beloved brethren at World Radio for giving us your mutual help and guidance in doing our radio broadcast mission work together here in Pagadian City, Philippines.

For this whole year, we are aiming to emphasize the pure gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to our listeners. Many have been asking some questions through cell phones that there are differences of teaching the truth in every denomination. And so we expounded on air that the New Testament of our Lord Jesus Christ is clear in giving us the details about the foundations of our faith. Some of them have come to me personally and I expounded to them how we ought to follow faithfully the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ in everything we do in religion. We do hope that soon many will accept the pure gospel of our Lord.

The wedding of our third son, Ezekiel was done last July 31, 2010 at our meeting place here in Sto. Niño. It was solemnized by Antonio Canto our beloved brother from Cotabato.

Once again, thank you so much for your support, your love, and concern for our radio broadcast mission work together here in Pagadian City. May God bless us all.

We had a baptism on June 19. Gloria Artheton is in her late 60s. She is a constant listener to Sound Doctrine, but used to go with her husband to a denominational church. She decided to leave her husband and attend services and decided that here at our church is where she belongs. Amen. More will continue to come as the radio program has been sown and it's reaping time now.

The radio program continues to cover and discover new grounds in Senegal. Through the radio and our agriculture program, we opened a new congregation in June. This new congregation is progressing steadily. However, we need a building for a meeting place for the new congregation. This is a challenge to us all.

A village girl who heard the radio program visited the new congregation. She got attracted by the signature tune before the broadcast. She doesn't speak good French, so did not quite understand what was preached. But she heard the name Christ on several occasions, so she wants to understand better. We're in contact with her. I hope that it will not be long before she becomes a Christian. Her mother is Catholic and her father is Muslim. She is free to choose her religion.

It seems the time has come for us to consider a radio broadcast in Wolof. It would boost the effectiveness of the radio broadcast in Senegal.

God bless you for all that you're doing in supporting the radio program in this our Muslim sub-region.

By courtesy of World Radio on air, one soul was added in the body of Christ. He is Mohamed Kaimapoh, a one-time Catholic member, immersed on Friday, June 25, 2010. To God be the glory.

Friends, we are experiencing heavy rains this year that have caused much destruction. Please keep us in your prayers, especially for our Christian families who stay in some remote places so that God may see them through during this stormy period.

Praising God is a song to me and many like me. The churches of Christ surrounding Bo Town in the southern part of Sierra Leone are so thankful for the Words of God reaching their localities thereby bringing increment in their attendances during worship services. Pindeguma Church of Christ had three baptisms during the month of July by courtesy of World Radio messages, the report stated. Falaba Church had one soul added to the body of Christ. This is good news for us all as we labor for the same purpose. May the Lord bless us all in our struggle to find favor in the sight of God.

Kono, Koido

The month of July has added three souls to the churches in Kono. After teaching salvation on the radio, three souls came out for baptism. Mrs. Jeneba Aruna was baptised in Gando Street Church of Christ now in full attendance and Mr. and Mrs Mbayo were baptised in the Koeyor Church of Christ. All are in attendance. Indeed the radio is doing well in winning souls. We are very proud of the radio teaching. God bless the sponsors. It is not in vain.

The total number of Braille books of the Bible received is 35. I am expecting a balance of 31 to complete the Bible. The books will be kept in the church building and each will have access as the need arises.

The books have attracted other blind students. We are expecting more to be attending service. The Braille Bible is unique to our church in Kono, if not Sierra Leone.

The Ramadan for the Muslims started this particular month. To get their own side of fasting, we taught fasting for the month. Indeed it was the Muslims that participated more. It is during their contributions we got to learn that that they believe that when they fast their sins are forgiven, which is not the case with Christians. It is only through baptism that our sins are forgiven. Now I believe that Islam is a direct opposite to Christianity.

As of this writing, the radio program Fifteen Minutes from the Bible that is done in partnership with World Radio continues to be fruitful. We continue to have requests for the correspondence course and the seminars continue where we have opportunity to meet personally those who are studying.

Since my wife and I plan to return to the States in October, I have spoken to a co-worker, Mark Schwartz, a brother who grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and has lived in America for many years, about the possibility of him helping with the work. Mark is willing to receive, grade, and mail out courses. At this time the Lord hasn’t provided the name of anyone who will carry on the work of preaching and recording the programs for the radio. We are praying about that and ask that you pray too.

TOGO

Kpalimé

Essotèna Nyemanta

We have baptized two girls in the Nyiveme Church on June 13 after Sunday service. The personal work continues there every week. After class I visit those who are ill or absent during the week. I was studying with one technical school teacher and his family. I have always received different faces in my office. I have studies with those who are not free during the day because of their activities, and we study at night and on the weekend. The Lord added two brothers to His church on July 11.

We have had two visitors this month at the Kpele-Beme Church. The believers in attendance range from 9-18. We have organized evangelism in Beme four times a month to help the church to grow. On June 14, two preachers, two students from Centre Bible Study (CBS) and I were at Beme all day to knock every door in this village. The following Sunday the attendance had six adult visitors. One learner of World Bible School was baptized the last Sunday of July after church service.

I’ve been very busy at Agbeyéyé in Klon. A CBS student, founder of the New Life Church there, invited me to worship with them. Early in the morning I took one brother who went there with me. During three hours I taught, exhorted, and convinced them to change the vain into true worship. The pastor of that church was baptized. His name is FOLLY Senyo. Now he is not pastor, but an evangelist. The attendance there runs from 87 to 100. Klon is a village on a mountain. After the pastor’s baptism I discussed with him to start changing the service to the Lord’s worship, and I will be there to help with teachings in the middle of August.

I was at Kpadape because David Wama, after one year in CBS, accepted and was baptized. His members don’t like all the changes he has made in their worship. The first thing he did was to take the drums away. He was very, very serious. I started a lesson on “God’s Plan for Salvation” for five weeks hoping that all of them would accept to be baptized. By the grace of God I convinced all of them. The church was baptized. I fight for the glory of God. The attendance every week is 15 to 30 adults.

The courses at CBS are going normally. I invited two teachers for this month, Esperance from Lomé to teach the book of Revelation and Akalo Komlan from Tsevie to teach Church Planting.

Many people of Hanyingba village were our radio broadcast listeners and many people take WBS courses. One person was baptized and we want to start worship there the first week of September.

We thank God for the radio program. A small village between Kpalimé and Agou called us to come and start a church of Christ there through our broadcast every Thursday at 6:15 p.m. Two girls were baptized. Many tracts were distributed during the period of evangelism. We ran out of World Bible School (WBS) courses.

The radio broadcast is helping very much the work in this area. A woman met us at the radio station when we ended broadcast at 7:00 p.m. to ask some questions about the training school and worship. She started visiting the church three weeks now.

There was a conference for West Africa speaking countries in Lomé June 6-8, 2010, at N’Kafou Church. Five countries came to this conference: Benin, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, and Togo.

The radio program is making so much impact in the Kloto Region of Togo. Several calls come in each week after programs are aired. Recently, a lady who was listening to one of the programs decided to leave her house and position herself at the entrance to the radio station in order to meet the presenter and ask a few questions. She is now a regular visitor.

The new congregations springing up around Kpalimé are as a direct result of the radio program, CBS, and the French World Bible School.

Lomé

Akovi A. Mensah/Koffi Koudahe

We are continually praising the Lord our God for His good deeds toward us, especially in our radio programs. The calls are now multiplied for prayers and studies by correspondence. Three weeks ago a lady called and suggested that we should pass our message on T.V., but right now we do not yet have the T.V. program, but the Association will think about it in our general assembly.

We preached during the month of June on “How to Conquer Unhappiness.” One month ago the rain damaged the antenna of Bonne Nouvelle Radio, but now the program has started and we continue preaching on true worship. Also the preaching day has changed; instead of Monday, we are preaching on Saturday from 11:00-12:00 a.m. because we discover that people listen more on Saturday than Monday. We are pleased to let you know that four of Kokoayi’s family were baptized. Keep on praying for their strength in the Lord.

The church activities are moving well. Last week we had the French Africa countries preachers’ conference which gathered five countries in Lomé. They were from Benin, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, and Togo. We were 43 in number. There could have been more, but due to the economical situation some did not come. In three days we debated and discussed around the general theme “Evangelistic Contributions for Future Africa.” We had edifying teachings like the evolution of the churches in French Africa and we encouraged each one to do more for the glory of God for the future Africa. In addition, preachers need to evangelize in order to change African’s mentalities for more light in French Africa.

Our radio programs are going very well since we are on the live call-in arrangement. The additional 15 minutes is even proving too short as once the lines are open we are kept busy with some interesting and intelligent questions. There is a lady who lives about 30 miles from where we are. She calls regularly with her disagreements, but is very open to discussing the subject at hand. She has been disturbed by some of the points we raised about the law and Sabbath keeping, and she has arranged to meet for Bible study.

We have about 12 conversions from radio and television responses which do not include reports from several congregations in the southern part of the island. I have found that we have more conversions from our radio program than the television. I think the call-in sessions have provided people with an opportunity to interact and have their concerns addressed so that they know what they must do.

Thank God for World Radio over the years giving support to keep this program on the airwaves and make it a rewarding project for the church and the people of this nation. All glory to God Almighty!

I came back from Ethiopia recently after a short visit and was able to review the Water of Life radio program’s impact and contribution to the effort of reaching the people of Ethiopia with the saving Gospel of our Lord. Our radio ministry is well known all over the country and I have been impressed by the letters I read that were sent from different parts of the country. In addition to reading the letters, I had the privilege of talking and encouraging some listeners, including one that I would like to share with you in this report.

Like most of the letters we receive, a phone number was written at the end of this particular letter and I decided to call the person and encourage her to continue to listen to the radio program. However, it didn’t take me long to find myself engaging in a conversation that was above my expectation. The person on the other side of the phone needed not a phone conversation, but someone to go down where she lives and teach her and all the family more about what we teach on the radio.

Well… I would have been more than happy to get a couple of my brethren from the church and go immediately to meet this family, but it was not possible. I was in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia and this family lives in Harer, a city located on the eastern part of Addis Ababa about 300 miles away.

Etagegne is the name of the woman who expressed her interest about someone teaching the Bible to her and her family. She was very pleased with the lessons they were receiving through the radio broadcast every Sunday night and were waiting for someone to contact them to express their desire to learn more. She stated that six members of her family listen to the broadcast and they are very much interested to know more and start worshiping in their home and eventually to help plant a church in the area where over 75 percent of the population is Islam. I promised Etagegne that we would try to visit the family soon. After talking to the church leaders in Addis Ababa, a plan is underway to send two brethren to meet this family and teach them more about Jesus in the near future.

This is the kind of benefits that have been seen in Ethiopia because of the radio ministry. A young man currently attending a university in the southern part of Ethiopia has been baptized and added to the church as a result of the radio ministry. This is a great opportunity to use this young man to reach out to the college students and start a campus ministry where no such ministry exists.

I want to thank you for your support and prayers. We thank our Lord for making us partners to reach out to the people of Ethiopia on this undying media called radio.

INDIA

Bangalore/Nellore

Asee and Sanjay Darla

The months of May and June I was given a very tight schedule to teach a number of classes for school teachers and denominational preachers in new places other than our regular scheduled classes. I am really grateful I am given such a wonderful privilege to make people think about their life and the arranged gospel plan of salvation from the Savior. There attended about 84 educated persons for 3-4 days of Bible seminars during this time. We baptized four Lutheran preachers and three Hindus because of these studies.

We received 48 new responses in India and 64 previous responses or repeated responses. Our preachers’ team that is doing the follow-up work reported they have conducted 72 group studies last month and visited 26 new addresses. They distributed 86 audio CDs helping in several villages to listen to the messages we broadcasted through radio. Last month we baptized three young boys in Vizianagaram following a youth Bible seminar for about 70 young people. Mostly they are from different denominations.

Last month we had Bible classes in Vizianagaram, Yanam, Nagarjuna Sagar, Nujiveedu, and Sri Kalahasti, teaching more than 180 preachers in all these places. I am really sorry that I’m unable to continue the teaching classes in Guntur, Repalle, Tenali and Rapur in order to adjust with our financial availability.

I am grateful I am continuously enjoying your prayer support. Because of World Radio, my life is being well organized to meet the needs of the people to get back to God’s kingdom and work as a church of the Lord to grow into the nature of our Master who is coming to fulfill His promises.

This month we have received 42 new radio responses and 27 repeated responses. Our helping team in follow-up work having completed about 30 group studies was able to baptize four in East Godavari and three in Krishna district. They said that they have 21 new studies to follow from July 1. Vissanna Pet near Nuziveedu is a new place where we started teaching about 20 preachers. Their interest is developed by a student who attended our classes in Yanam. Actually, he was travelling all the way from Vizaq to Yanam and attended throughout last year. When this brother continuously requested that we visit his place, I told him I have no money to bear the expense. He talked to the local church and other brethren and he himself put forth a large amount of money to arrange these classes. I only paid for my travel expense. I am hearing some other preachers are joining that group and they will have continuous classes if I can come. This place is two hours bus travel from Vijayawada. The student’s name is brother Sudhakar. He completed his master’s degree in science and education.

I thank you for your prayers offered on behalf of the millions of souls in our country. We are grateful to God He has provided World Radio as a wonderful tool for common man to listen to the Gospel of our Lord in his own language.

Last month we received 27 repeated responses and 64 new responses by mail. We received 49 phone calls and were able to attend most of these contacts. You know, a number of preachers are helping in the follow-up work. We baptized six in Yanam, two in Amalapuram and three in Nagarjuna Sagar. Our work with young people in Vizianagaram will result with more conversions in the coming two or three months.

Your prayers and efforts brought me to this level to develop several hundred young men and women to preach for Christ in India. The same work is in progress in Sri Lanka also. Before you and I leave for home, somehow we need to organize this group of people in different places of Andhra Pradesh to continue in their faith and planting churches in the whole state. I am praying and seeking ways how to organize this large group of people to a practical work. I need your prayers at World Radio. Last month, one effort was made with the help of three congregations as they sponsored a one-day Bible seminar to some of our preachers in the Vijayawada area. Those who participated expressed their willingness to commit more time in the preaching. I think we had about 200 men and women in different congregations.

I am grateful that World Radio is giving me the privilege to work for the Lord in a meaningful way. I always feel it is my privilege to work in the World Radio family and I am grateful for all the encouragement I receive.

SRI LANKA

Colombo

Asee Darla/Herold and Lilani Thomas

The Lord has given me a safe trip from Sri Lanka, and I am grateful that World Radio has provided for me this opportunity to serve in that country. During June we received 18 radio responses and our brothers could do some follow-up work. In this trip, I visited two families in Colombo and motivated them for a regular study. One family is from Hindu Tamil and the other family is Catholic. They showed good interest to study about God and His Son.

We thought of going to the hill part of the country, but for some reason we observed more military checkups everywhere on the roads. It seems the government has developed a big problem with a committee appointed by the UN dealing with the war crimes in Sri Lanka. We have several invitations from villages to come and have gospel meetings. I spoke to seven individual preachers by phone and encouraged them saying, “We will come.”

We had two new Buddhist families and three Catholic families this time for the Bible seminar. A Church of Christ preacher who has not yet joined our group for study also came this time and invited us to his place saying that the church where he is ministering has heard several good things about our classes. Therefore they showed interest to invite all of us to their place for our next Bible seminar. This will be a really good development for our work in Colombo. So, from next time onwards four local churches will join together for a three-day Bible seminar and two days of studies for youth who are receiving training and developing their skills to preach to their countrymen in their own language.

The new translator got sick and he did not come this time to help me in the work. However, we worked 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. one session, 2:00-5:00 p.m. one session, and evening meetings. We had 48-50 to our Bible seminars and 35-40 to our evening meetings. We worked a concept in these seminars. The concept is this: John 8:12-14 the unfaithful in the world lost their inner sight to see they are spiritual as well as physical. The devil in his kingdom keeps them in darkness so that they can see only physical life with their physical eyes and live for the benefit of the body and unable to see and do any good to their spiritual life. Therefore, Jesus came to this world as a light. Unless a man receives Jesus, he cannot have light to see the true reality of himself where he came from, why he is here, and where is he going. He cannot see the immediate effect to his spirit after departing from the physical body and physical world. Luke 16:19 ff. After receiving the life only, he can see the zoe life and its importance as he progresses with his life years towards the end. We should not forget that man is made to become a son of God and develop his person into the likeness of Jesus’ personality who is the Son of God. The Hindus and Buddhists respect this concept of teaching about Jesus and man’s life.

I have purchased 100 Sri Lankan Bibles to take to the northern country. We also printed 1,000 song books in Sri Lankan language to help the local churches in their worship. They have not had song books for a long time. I think I almost spent away our Bible money.

The students that attend the Bible seminar decided to memorize the whole Sermon on the Mount by the end of September this year. If any cannot finish by that time, they will finish by the end of the year. They all felt they want to enter in the New Year 2011with this precious memory work. I am really encouraged by their support. Some of them have already memorized and quoted the fifth chapter. Brother Thomas and Sister Lilani with other members in the main church are working very hard to make my schedules and arrange my travels. I am really grateful for them.

I had a very good time in Sri Lanka as I continuously labor there for the church and for the interested souls to hear the Gospel to come to know the knowledge of their Creator and His plan for their lives. Last month we helped four Catholic families and three Buddhist families to improve their interest and faith. In our follow-up work we met two families in the city of Colombo and found one is really seeking the opportunity to learn about Jesus and His teachings about life. We received nine letters and seven calls last month in Colombo city, 14 letters, and five calls from the hill country. We understand that a lot more people are waiting to come out of their religious beliefs to live for the truth in that country. I am grateful that World Radio has blessed my life to serve our Master’s cause by preaching the Gospel of God’s kingdom. My sincere thanks to you and to all that are supporting and strengthening on my behalf in the World Radio ministry.

I need your continuous prayers and support to bring this work to a satisfied level that the churches in Sri Lanka should carry the evangelism program in a healthy and spiritual manner so that our Lord’s kingdom may continuously be made available for those that seek for the truth to fulfill their life’s purpose in Sri Lanka as well as in all the countries on the globe. World Radio’s effort to take the great commission to the entire world is a marvelous ministry the Lord is having for His people.
