2010 Earthquake and Relief

As it turns out there was so much damage in Port-au-Prince and the church was destroyed. Relief had to be coordinated for the North and the South. Myself and Ben Adkins, Director of World Radio, went to both locations to evaluate what could be done. The south had so much damage and no place to stay that we decided that I would stay in Cap Haitian and coordinate what had to be and needed to be done.
I committed to 3 months in order to make sure that all relief was done and the funds were spent properly. It ended up that we received so many shipments of supplies and food along with items sent by a church in East Cobb, Georgia. The relief was a great success from a standpoint of effort from a lot of peoples work. Funds spent went to where they were supposed to go without someone taking some of it.
The work that is needed to be done will not be completed for many years to come however between Lucner Pierre in the north and Jean T Elmare in the south they will get things done.
Photo's of some of the work done in the first 3 months.
Then we moved to a new direction, How to Grow Your Own Food. I started to teach the Haitians how they could grow their own food in 6 inches of soil. The classes were so successful that we could not get everyone that wanted it, into the classes. Now the next step is to go back to Port-au-Prince and do the same classes. In August we plan to do the same as we did in the north. They are already planning classes for 3 days in the 3 separate locations. You can see the report I did. There are some pictures to view also.
